Purchasing my 2016 Club Car Carryall 1700 SE diesel 4×4 back in August was a fantastic decision. I drove all the way to Alabama to pick it up from a Volunteer Fire Department, and with just 1400 hours on it and a price of $7.8k, it felt like a steal. The initial weeks have been spent diving into maintenance and cleaning, typical with any used vehicle, especially one that’s seen some action. I’ve been busy replacing fluids – oil, differential fluids, transfer case oil, coolant, and brake fluid – ensuring everything is fresh and ready for work. One of the first upgrades was installing new floor panels, thankfully gifted by a friend. The originals had seen better days with a few holes, so I’m adding some boat deck cushioning for extra comfort underfoot.
My focus is now turning to enhancing its functionality and appearance through various modifications and, of course, sourcing the right Club Car Carryall Parts. I’m in the process of converting all the lights to LED, including headlights and brake lights, and adding a couple of powerful CREE spotlights for enhanced visibility during night work. A stereo and speakers are also on the list to make those long workdays a bit more enjoyable. Beyond the aesthetics, I’m tackling the suspension, planning to sandblast and repaint it along with the roll cage to combat any rust and give it a fresh look. Fabricating a new brush guard with a winch mount is also on the agenda, alongside aluminum racks for the roof to carry items like ladder stands, fishing poles, and surfboards – maximizing its utility for both work and leisure. Finally, new wheels and tires are a must; the current 489s are just too aggressive and wear down quickly on asphalt, which is where I often find myself driving.
However, the challenge lies in finding aftermarket and crossover club car carryall parts. Specifically, I’m on the hunt for a folding windshield, a digital speedometer/tachometer combo, and seat covers to improve comfort and practicality. My search so far hasn’t yielded much, which seems to be a common issue with these utility vehicles compared to golf carts.
Despite the slight hurdle in parts sourcing, I must say this machine is exactly what I needed. The suspension is a significant improvement over my old ’95 DS CarryAll 2 Plus, and the fact that it can comfortably seat six (maybe skinny!) is a bonus. The 4×4 Intellitrak system is performing exceptionally well. For 90% of its life with me, it’s a workhorse, hauling tools and supplies across sand, mud, and some marshy terrains. The remaining time, it’s happily towing my flats boat to the ramp, surfboards to the beach, or equipment around hunt camp. It’s proving to be an incredibly versatile and capable vehicle, and I’m looking forward to continuing to upgrade and utilize my Club Car Carryall for years to come.
