Hey fellow car enthusiasts! After sharing my thoughts on your rides, it’s time to turn the spotlight onto my own project: a 1989 Nissan 240sx. Currently, she’s undergoing a significant transformation, and I’m excited to share the progress, especially the Car Parts Pics that showcase where we’re at. Right now, it’s a pure shell – stripped down to the basics, but brimming with potential. I picked her up for a steal at $600 and immediately began the gutting process that very night.
Enough talk, let’s dive into the visual tour of the project.
This first shot gives you a general overview. My 240sx, as you can see, is quite bare bones at the moment. In the background, you can spot the front clip, complete with the SR20 engine patiently waiting to be the heart of this build. This image really highlights the initial stage of a serious car restoration project, focusing on the essential car parts that will bring it back to life.
Here’s a rear angle of the 240sx. Again, the front clip makes another appearance in the shot. For those with a keen eye, you might notice the hatch paint is a bit more vibrant than the rest of the body. That’s because the original hatch suffered from rust due to a factory wing and was replaced with a wingless version – a common issue and fix in 240sx restorations. This car parts pic emphasizes the bodywork aspect of the project.
Moving inside, this is the rear interior. As you can see, everything has been completely stripped out. I’ve removed most of the sound deadening to reduce weight and prepare for the rebuild. You can also see where I’ve re-routed some wiring to keep things cleaner – though it’ll look much tidier once everything is properly connected. And yes, that’s a Sony boombox – purely for project tunes, not for the final build! This car parts pic shows the extent of interior demolition and the initial stages of customization.
This is a shot of the front interior. Similar to the rear, most of the sound deadening is gone – those stains you see are remnants of it. All of that will be cleaned up soon as we prep for paint and interior car parts installation. This car parts pic offers another perspective on the gutted interior, focusing on the front cabin area.
Now for some of the exciting car parts! Here’s a glimpse of some of the performance upgrades I’ve already acquired: a GReddy RSpec FMIC (Front Mount Intercooler), Kouki taillights (which I managed to get for free!), and a Cusco Rear Triangle Bar. These are just a few pieces of the puzzle – many more parts are on the way, of course. This image is all about showcasing aftermarket performance car parts that are crucial for an upgrade project.
Finally, a quick shot of the Apexi N1 Single exhaust. This is one car part I’m particularly excited about – it’s going to sound amazing once the SR20 is in and running! This car parts pic specifically highlights the exhaust system, a key component for both performance and sound.
The next steps involve cleaning and repainting the engine bay before dropping in the SR20 (which will also be thoroughly cleaned and prepped). The entire car, including the interior, is getting a fresh coat of Nissan 350Z white paint to keep it within the Nissan family, with a contrasting black roof. There’s still a long road ahead, with more car parts to order – engine components, suspension upgrades, seats, a new hood, and much more. It’s a labor of love, and I’m open to any comments or suggestions you might have as the build progresses!
Thanks for checking out my project!
