Hey fellow car enthusiasts! As you know, the Chevelle Build project here at Allison Customs is in full swing. We’re pushing hard to get this beauty ready for the November SEMA show, but honestly, the budget is getting a little tight. We’ve hit that stage where progress means dropping some serious cash on parts, paint, and all those crucial finishing touches.
So, I’ve made a tough decision. It’s time to part ways with some of my existing Chevelle parts that I’ve been holding onto for years. I know, I know, letting go is hard. Especially when it comes to this car – I’m ridiculously sentimental. I kept every original nut and bolt from the first restoration. My original 283 engine, Powerglide transmission, open-rear end, and even that wonderfully worn-out bench seat are all safely stored away. I even have the original rusty quarter panels, though getting close to them is a tetanus risk!
But, the “new” parts I’ve swapped onto the Chevelle over the years are quality components with plenty of life left in them. And you know what? I can’t think of a better way to fuel the Chevelle dream than by selling these unneeded parts to raise the funds to keep the build going. Will I miss some of them, especially those seats? Sure. But think of it as an investment in the bigger picture. Plus, I’ll always have the original rusty relics to remind me where it all started, right?
On a brighter note, my Hotchkis suspension, disc brakes, and rally wheels have already found a new home with podcast listener Kim Drinkwater for his ’64 Chevelle! It’s awesome knowing these parts are going to another ’64 Chevelle owner and a listener of The MuscleCar Place podcast – it’s just another cool chapter in this whole car saga.
The following items are now up for grabs on eBay and Craigslist. I also gave everyone a heads up on The MuscleCar Place podcast. If you’re interested or have any questions, shoot me an email directly at [email protected]. Thanks for taking a look!

350 Engine – Rebuilt and Ready to Roar – Craigslist Listing
Craigslist Listing: Chevelle 350 Engine for Sale
Looking for a powerful and reliable small block Chevy for your project? I’m selling the 350 cubic inch engine from my ’64 Chevelle. This engine was professionally rebuilt in 2008 by Dave Newhouse, a respected circle track engine builder in Ames. It’s only got around 5000 miles on it since the rebuild. We’re talking all new bearings, gaskets, and precision machine work. I’ve invested well over $2000 in the rebuild alone! This engine delivers great street performance and is perfect for a street rod or muscle car project. You’re getting a turn-key engine package for less than half the price of a new crate engine with comparable accessories!
This is a complete, running unit – engine, carburetor, ignition, starter, everything you see pictured (minus the clutch). Bolt it in and go!
Engine Specs:
- Block: 010 4-bolt main block, bored .060 over to 360 cubic inches
- Camshaft: Hydraulic Corvette L-46/L-82 cam, 222/222 duration at .050″ lift
- Pistons: Fed Mogul Flat Top
- Cylinder Heads: GM993 heads, rebuilt with new bronze guides, 2.02/1.60 valves, Harland Sharp 1.6 ratio roller rockers
- Intake Manifold: Edelbrock Performer
- Carburetor: Edelbrock 600 CFM with Electric Choke
- Ignition: MSD 6A box, Pro-Billet MSD distributor with Ford-style cap
- Water Pump: GM Short Pump
- Starter: GM Performance High Torque Starter
- Headers: Blackjack
- Alternator: 100AMP with 1-wire conversion
- Valve Covers: Edelbrock
Full Disclosure: The cylinder heads may need replacing. While they were machined and rebuilt in 2008, there’s still some oil getting past the valve guides, resulting in some oil consumption. Dave Newhouse has inspected them twice and recommends replacing the heads to permanently solve the issue. Factor this into your consideration – it’s still a great engine package deal!

1964-65 Chevelle Bucket Seats – Driver Quality – eBay Listing
eBay Listing: 1965 Chevelle SS Bucket Seats Red
Up for sale is a pair of bucket seats from my ’64 Chevelle. The seat frames are actually from a ’65 Chevelle SS, known for their superior strength, but I had them professionally reupholstered in the mid-90s with correct ’64 Chevelle SS red seat covers to maintain the original look for my ’64.
These are “driver quality” seats, perfect for a project car or daily driver. The seat frames and sliders are in good working order. The upholstery is in nice shape overall, with only a few minor nicks from normal use over the past 15 years. The original chrome trim is decent but shows some pitting, consistent with its age.
When reupholstered, the seat springs were replaced and are on the firmer side – likely firmer than original ’64 seats, offering good support. These seats are ready to bolt in and add a classic muscle car touch to your Chevelle or project car.

1964-65 Chevelle Manual Steering Column – Floor Shift – eBay Listing
eBay Listing: 1964 Chevelle Manual Floor Shift Steering Column
This is a steering column removed from my ’64 Chevelle, designed for manual floor-shift applications (no column shifter). It’s a direct fit for ’64 and ’65 Chevelles and may also be compatible with other GM models (though I’m not sure which ones – do your research!).
The column is complete, from the steering wheel mount down to the rag joint. Internally, it’s in good condition, and the turn signal mechanism works perfectly. Overall, the column is in driver-quality condition and ready to bolt directly into your Chevelle project.
Please note: The steering wheel shown in the picture is not included and will be kept. This listing is for the steering column assembly only.

1964-65 Chevelle Fuel Tank – Original Style Replacement – eBay Listing
eBay Listing: 1964 Chevelle Original Style Fuel Tank
For sale is a used, original-style fuel tank from my ’64 Chevelle. This tank fits ’64 and ’65 Chevelles and may also fit other GM vehicles (again, verify fitment for your application).
I purchased this as a factory replacement from National Parts Depot in the mid-1990s. It’s in good overall condition, especially considering its age and use. However, due to regulations regarding shipping fuel tanks that have contained fuel, this tank is for local pickup only – no shipping available.
If you’re local and need a solid replacement fuel tank for your Chevelle, this is a great option!
