More significantly, while late-model water-cooled cars boast modern CANBUS architectures, this ’88 911 is pre-CANBUS, even pre-OBD2. This crucial difference means integrating Shadow Drive necessitates a bespoke approach to sensor implementation. To effectively “shadow” the car’s performance, Shadow Drive needs real-time data on throttle position, brake pressure, and a spectrum of other variables.
