Essential Responsibilities of an O’Reilly Auto Parts Delivery Specialist:
As a Delivery Specialist, you will be the face of O’Reilly Auto Parts to our valued professional customers. Your primary responsibility will be to operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver a wide range of auto parts and products. This role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to timely and reliable service, particularly for businesses that depend on quick access to parts to keep their operations running smoothly. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Safe and Efficient Delivery Operations: Mastering the operation of company vehicles to deliver parts and products to various customer locations, always prioritizing safety and efficiency. This includes navigating routes effectively, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring timely arrivals.
- Utilizing Delivery Technology: Becoming proficient in using delivery fleet management hand-held devices. These tools are essential for processing deliveries, capturing electronic customer signatures for proof of delivery, accurately updating vehicle mileage logs, and diligently completing daily vehicle inspection checklists.
- Vehicle Care and Maintenance: Taking ownership of vehicle cleanliness and ensuring vehicles are properly maintained. This includes performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily to identify any maintenance needs and reporting them promptly to store management. Maintaining the vehicle’s appearance also reflects positively on O’Reilly Auto Parts.
- Secure Handling of Company Assets: Maintaining the security of delivery vehicles, vehicle keys, fuel and fleet credit cards, hand-held devices, and any cash collected from Cash On Delivery (C.O.D.) transactions at all times. Accountability and trustworthiness are paramount in this aspect of the role.
- Processing Customer Returns: Handling customer returns efficiently, including new parts, warranty items, and core returns. This involves accurately completing driver return slips and ensuring all returns are processed according to company procedures.
- Customer Communication and Issue Resolution: Serving as a point of contact between the store and professional customers on delivery routes. This includes communicating any customer problems, special requests, or feedback to store management to ensure excellent customer service and prompt issue resolution.
- Vehicle Maintenance Reporting: Immediately reporting any vehicle maintenance requirements, accidents, or vehicle damage to the store manager. Prompt reporting is crucial for vehicle safety and minimizing downtime.
- End-of-Day Vehicle Procedures: Ensuring the vehicle fuel tank is adequately filled at the end of each workday and properly locking and securing the vehicle to safeguard company assets.
- Timekeeping Compliance: Adhering to company policy by accurately clocking in and out for all work shifts and breaks.
- Additional Store Support: Being prepared to take on other duties as assigned, which can include providing customer service in-store, assisting with tasks like sweeping and general store upkeep, stocking and straightening merchandise displays, running errands for the store, managing core returns, checking in and stocking new inventory orders, and assisting with merchandising efforts.
